About Us

Hi,

My name is Pauline and I am the creator and owner of Pauline’s Plants. I wanted to give you a little insight into my history, what inspired the business to be created, what we do and how we can help you. 

I moved to Torquay in 2018 but before this I lived in Birmingham with my wonderful husband, Craig, and my amazing daughter, Anna. I had been a Secondary Science teacher for 14 years and when I moved to Torquay I worked at Torquay Academy as a Lead practitioner in Science. During this whole time I had a hobby, and that was gardening. 

I had my first garden in my early twenties. I had been helping out in my grandparents garden and my moms garden over the years but it was only when I had my own space to look after that I really started to think in depth about garden design and planting schemes. I did not have a very big budget and so I built raised beds out of smashed up slabs to create interest. I then filled the raised beds with plants. Some plants grew really well and some didn’t and I became curious about why. This is when I started to research plant types, soil conditions, pruning needs and combinations. 

With over 25 years of experience, and much learning about how plants grow and need to be cared for, I feel that I am in a position to help all my lovely customers to learn how to enjoy the magic of nature with the development of beautiful plants.
